For us, it means that the most important extra value for our hotel guests is the food and the unique and local culinary experiences we can offer. We have multiple goals with a kitchen garden and a good collaboration with nearby farms for the supply of meat, dairy products, and the vegetables we do not produce ourselves. Breakfast & lunch buffet
Start your day at Thorbjørnrud Hotel with a delightful breakfast buffet offering a diverse range of fresh and flavorful options. From freshly baked pastries to healthy breakfast cereals, every taste is satisfied. Guests can choose from a selection of local products such as cheeses from Thorbjørnrud Ysteri, cold cuts from Brandbu Pølsemakeri, fruits, and yogurt to create their perfect morning meal.
For lunch, Thorbjørnrud serves a delicious buffet featuring fresh salads, cakes, and delectable hot dishes that will satisfy any appetite. With a focus on seasonal ingredients and local flavors, the lunch buffet offers a variety of dishes suitable for every taste and preference.
À la carte in the summer
From 1 June, we serve à la carte in our restaurant from Sunday to Thursday throughout the summer.
The menu is served between 17:00 and 20:00, with simple, seasonal dishes made with good ingredients.
You can choose from starters such as caprese, smoked salmon and today’s soup. For the main course, we offer today’s dish, meat, fish or chicken Caesar salad. We also serve today’s dessert for those who would like something sweet to finish.
Wine & beer expertise
At Thorbjørnrud we have a close relationship with both wine and beer. Here on the property we have our own vineyard, and we are proud to be able to serve wine made from grapes from the hotel's own vines. Our sommeliers are happy to guide you through the wines and tell you more about the work behind it, the taste and the history.
We also have our own farm beer. The beer was previously brewed here in the house, but is now brewed by Små Vesen, according to our own recipe. This means that we can still serve a beer with a clear connection to Thorbjørnrud, made with the same taste and idea as when it was developed with us.
With us you get to taste products with local roots, whether it is wine from our own vineyard or farm beer brewed according to our own recipe.
Harvesting from our own garden & use of local ingredients
From our lush hotel garden, we harvest fruits, berries, vegetables, and flowers. We also have a close collaboration with local farms to ensure a fresh supply of meat, dairy products, and seasonal vegetables. Our culinary expertise allows us to explore the flavors of these ingredients and create memorable meals. In front of the hotel, you'll find our herb garden where we gather herbs used to season our dishes.
Afternoon tea
Welcome to a unique Afternoon Tea experience at Thorbjørnrud, where we blend the elegant British tradition with locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. Served in our stately Director’s Residence, the tiered trays are filled with delicate sandwiches, freshly baked scones, sweet pastries, and seasonal fruits and berries—all crafted with local produce from our surrounding area. Enjoy freshly brewed tea or coffee in regal surroundings with views of the garden, and savor a delightful moment where local cuisine meets a timeless tradition.
